Dubai Police Adopt Chevy Camaro SS, Aston Martin One-77

Dubai’s police department already owns some neat sheetmetal, including some Italian exotic cars, but it seems the department is also a fan of American muscle, as it just took delivery of a 2013 Chevrolet Camaro SS for use as a patrol car
Like Dubai’s other patrol cars, the Camaro wears white paint along with green bodyside and hood striping – the latter applied in the same two-stripe pattern as any other Camaro SS model. In fact apart from some aftermarket bodywork including a new front splitter, side sills, and rear spoiler, these cars are largely stock. An LED light bar runs the width of the roof, while the stock fog lamps are replaced with red and blue LED strobe lamps.
GM’s Middle Eastern press office has few other details on the car, but it appears the Dubai Police Camaro retains the Camaro SS’ stock 426-hp, 6.2-liter V-8 and six-speed manual transmission. That should be good enough to move the 3860-pound Camaro from 0-60 mph in just under 4.7 seconds.
That said, Dubai is the land of supercars – and as fast as the Camaro may be, it might have a little trouble catching up to that sort of speeder. No worries – in addition to the Ferraris and Lamborghinis you previously saw, Dubai is also purchasing a Aston Martin One-77 and upfitting it for use as a police car (a stock One-77 is shown below). Although its 750-hp, 7.3-liter V-12 would make for one heck of a pursuit vehicle, Dubai says the car – and others of its ilk – won’t chase speeding motorists and instead serve as a “road safety” car.
What’s next, a police-spec McLaren P1 or a LaFerrari with a light bar? Actually, we’d love to see that. If it were to happen, you just know it’ll be in Dubai.

Watch This 750-HP Mazda RX-7 Drift up a New Zealand Mountain

Though rally driver Ken Block may be the undisputed king of automotive viral videos, drift drivers have been getting into the game recently. Formula Drift’s Vaughn Gittin Jr. took his Ford Mustang RTR to Saudi Arabia for a bit of sideways action, and now “Mad” Mike Whiddett has taken his Mazda RX-7 with about 750 hp up the Crown Range in Queenstown, New Zealand’s highest paved road.

The road would present quite the challenge for any enthusiast on a leisurely Sunday drive, let alone on a flat-out 144 mph drift adventure. The range has 47 corners spaced out over 6.5 miles, with a summit 3530 feet high. Yet Mad Mike still throws his four-rotor RX-7 into each corner with abandon, with a helicopter giving chase and flames shooting from the back of his car.
The video shows Mad Mike’s Red Bull Mazda RX-7 tackle consecutive hairpin turns, drive flat out over a long straight, and then rein it all back in at the top of the mountain.

Vin Diesel Announces 'Fast & Furious 7' Release Date - July 11th, 2014

[Fast and Furious 7 in theaters next summer and we even have a release date - July 11th, 2014!]

We've got some breaking news out of Las Vegas about one of the most anticipated movies of not only this summer, but next summer too! Studios and celebrities have ascended upon Vegas to attend this year's CinemaCon and among them were Vin Diesel who made an appearance at Universal's presentation to not only speak about this summer's Fast and Furious 6, but also share some info on what's in store for the seventh film. We previously reported that plans were underway to shoot the follow-up as early as this summer for a planned 2014 release. Things were moving so fast and furious (pun intended) that director Justin Lin decided to step away in order to focus on getting the latest movie to theaters. Universal has since brought in Insidious director James Wan to take over directing duties and now it looks like we will in fact be seeing Fast and Furious 7 in theaters next summer and we even have a release date - July 11th, 2014! Diesel said that the reason for the quick turnaround to get a 7th film out was the fact that the film will tie in closely with the storyline of Fast and Furious 6. We previously revealed rumors of just how close the films will tie in to each other and needless to say it's extremely spoiler heavy, so you can click the link in the description for info on that. It's unclear which cast members will return, but Dwayne Johnson recently told Collider that he hadn't heard of a start date for a seventh installment and that if a summer start was to happen, he would most likely not be able to join the film as he will be busy shooting his Hercules movie. Regardless of who does return, Diesel stated that the seventh installment will in fact take place in Los Angeles and be the biggest Fast film yet. Nya Saab 9-3 – så här skulle den ha blivit!

En av de viktigaste modellerna som skulle ha kommit ut från Spykerägda Saab, ifall konkursen inte hade ägt rum, var en ny Saab 9-3. Sveriges Radios P4 Väst har nu kommit över bilder på hur bilen skulle ha sett ut, om den blivit av.

De lågupplösta bilderna kommer från en affärsplan som Saab utarbetade i maj 2011, som nu alltså Sveriges Radios P4 Väst-redaktion kommit över. Bilderna visar en datorgenererad modell från tidigare det året, och utgjorde en sen, men inte slutlig version av designen.

Nya Saab 9-3, formgiven av Jason Castriota, skulle ha baserats på den nyutvecklade Phoenix-plattformen och återupptagit Saabs tradition av halvkombimodeller. Som bilderna visar hämtades inspiration från Saab 900, av årsmodell före 1993.

Enligt uppgift skulle Saab 9-3 ha haft premiär på Genèvesalongen i fjol, om allt hade gått enligt planerna.

NEVS, som köpt upp Saabs konkursbo (och som i dagarna lanserat en ny hemsida för Saab), har för avsikt att färdigutveckla Phoenix-plattformen. NEVS har dock inte rättigheterna till Castriotas design. Alltså lär en Saab 9-3 med detta utseende aldrig bli av.
