BMW Alpina B3 3.3 (1999)

The B3´s six-cylinder engine is based on it´s predecessor´s (BMW 328) but it has been modified to produce even more power with maintained smoothness. The displacement has been increased to 3,3 litre. Extremely light pistons as well as a newly developed crankshaft have been used in conjunction with a new torsional-vibration damper, sustaining permanent revs of up to 7200 rpm with ease. Alpina have also fitted completely new intake and exhaust systems.
The standard gearbox is a manual Getrag six-speed unit but the five-speed Switch-Tronic box is available as an option.I have the manual.

The exhaust is in stainless steel hand made ,2 x 3” and on the way back to the rear silencer it is 1 race cat.

The engine produces 280 bhp at 6100 rpm and a torque of 355 Nm at 4300 rpm. The new B3 is also very frugal, only 9,9 litre/100 km in mixed driving conditions.When tests has been done it shows that it produce even more power.

Alpina claims a 0-100 km/h time of 5,7 seconds for the manual and 6,8 for the Switch-Tronic version. The top speed is more than 265 km/h. But Auto Motor und Sport´s test shows that the B3 is even faster. 0-100 km/h in only 5,5 seconds, 0-160 km/h in 13,1 seconds and 0-200 km/h in 21,4 seconds.

Alpina is famous for their ability to make a car handle like sportscar and still have the fine ride of a standard BMW. And the B3 3,3 is no exception. At front Alpina have fitted Bilstein gas-pressure spring units and a new stabilizer. At rear they have fitted Bilstein gas-pressure shocks, new springs and a new stabilizer.

The brakes are uprated with bigger discs, ventilated at front, with floating callipers.Originally the B3 rides on tires, which are 225 mm wide at front and 255 mm wide at rear. The alloys are 18in high.But I have fitted 19” Bbs challenge motorsport alloys whit dunlop sport max 235mm in front and 265mm in rear

The B3 have the usual Alpina interior changes such as a handsewn 3-spoke steering wheel, new instruments and Sports seats in black leather.It also has all extra options you could have 1999 except electric seats and i have put in alu look interior.

Standard. 6 cd changer and Harman/kardon sound system.
Extra. 10" sub and monoblock amp from Alpine.
Dvd player whit an 7" widescreen screen.
Radiomod for input of mp3 player.

The visual changes includes a new front and rear spoiler and i have mounted angeleyes, m3 mirrors in chrome and dark windows.
