Honda-bilar byggda av LEGO ! :) 2 mars 2012, 09:26

Hittat på nätet : ) kan inte vara lätt men vissa detaljer
ser man likheterna iallafall.. bara att börja bygga

This 1:20 scale convertible car was commissioned in a special color as a gift for
an S2000 enthusiast.

About this creation
This car was comissioned by a woman as a gift for her boyfriend, who owns a Honda S2000.
To be true to his car, she requested it be created with a special light-blue exterior and
dark blue interior. There aren't a lot of LEGO elements in these rare colors, so
Sean had to design the model with a somewhat limited palette of parts.

Three cars were built in total ... the dark blue car was the original prototype,
the light blue car was the commissioned sculpture, and the yellow one was an
extra one Sean made for himself. (It so happens that a yellow Honda S2000 was
Sean's "dream car" for many years!)

One distintive aspect of the car is that it does not have an ignition... it has a big
red "start" button, calling to its roots as a race car. It was difficult to get the button
into the model, but well worth the extra effort.

NSX:

About this creation
The Honda NSX (branded as the Acura NSX in North America and Hong Kong) was a sports car produced between 1990 and 2005 by the Japanese automaker Honda. It used a mid-engine, rear-wheel drive layout and was powered by an all-aluminum V6 gasoline engine featuring Honda's "variable valve timing and lift electronic control" (VTEC) system.

That's it the description for a Honda NSX, on of the most legendary sports car in Japan history. There are four best sports car during the 90'an which is The Mitsubishi 3000GT, Nissan Skyline R34 GTR, Toyota Supra and off course this NSX. Well, This car is slightly tuned. The C32B engine is modified with dropping a turbo and intercooler to boost some horsepower. With this modification the horsepower is being increase to a staggering 400hp. The boot section is chopped, and connected to the engine room, for a better cooling. Okay, some of you may feel why it is a NSX LN20? Yes, it is named after the current challenge we have on LUGNUT. It is LugNut 20th challenge. Get it? Okay, what is the fire and what is the ice element?
Red paint job, engine - Fire
White interior, blue engine paint job - Ice

And don't forget, the flipping light is working.

Honda Fit (1:15 Scale):

Additional Information

Unfortunately, the only functional aspects of the car are the hood and trunk door. There is a 4 Cylinder engine under the car hood and the entire trunk bed is finished/smooth with accurate wheel well indentations. I wanted to make the car doors operational, however I just ran out of time before the deadline. But I did make the "door panel" section between the two wheels a separate section so that modifying the car later to add operable doors would be easier.

The hardest part for me was trying to get the C-Panel (panel between Rear Door and the Trunk) to look right. You can't tell from the final result because in all honesty, I felt like the "simplest" solution turned out to be the best looking one! For the longest time, I was trying to build it out of a combination of 1x1, 1x2 slopes and 1x1 plates. It's just hard to get the curvature right, taking into account both the vertical as well as the horizontal curves.

Workflow

Like all other models I've done in the past, I basically started out with about a dozen stock pictures of the car, making sure to get the right trims/options that my parents had in theirs since I wanted it to look as close to theirs as I could get (ie. they didn't get the Sports option but a lot of pictures online had the Sports trim so I had to weed those pictures out). I also looked up the physical dimensions of the vehicle including the stock height, width, length, wheel base (distance between the wheels length-wise, taken from the wheel centers) as well as the wheel track (distance between the wheels width-wise, taken from the center of the treads) in order to get the car proportions correct.

Then came the time to pick the scale for the model. I realized that I would be using the "stock" Lego Wheels from the Ferrari sets and as a result, I had to get the Honda Fit's wheel dimensions (175/65/15) and scale the entire final Honda Fit model to the Lego wheels since they were the only part of the model I couldn't change. The finished model came out to be just shy of 1:15 scale (around 1:15.3).

The rest of the model just came from trial and error! =)
