Produktionsstarten för de Nevs-tillverkade Saab-bilarna rycker allt närmare. Innan årsskiftet ska tillverkningen vara igång på riktigt. Till detta krävs dock nyanställningar, och rekryteringen är redan i full gång.

Vi har redan sett det första förserieexemplaret av de nya Nevs-tillverkade Saab-bilarna. Någon riktig produktion har det dock knappast varit tal om än. Snart kommer dock bandet att rulla i en, i alla fall, något större skala, och det är Saab 9-3 det handlar om.
– Vi har inget exakt datum, säger Nevs presschef Mikael Östlund i ett uttalande till lokaltidningen TTELA, men planen är att tillverkningen ska starta innan årsskiftet.

Redan i dag finns tillräcklig bemanning hos Nevs för att starta en produktion i mindre skala, men när nu den riktiga produktionsstarten rycker allt närmare behövs också fler anställda. Redan nu rekryteras omkring ett 30-tal tjänster, främst bilbyggare, och inom den närmaste tiden kan så många som 100 personer komma att nyanställas.

Färre tankar E85 Det blir allt färre bilar som tankar med etanol, och konsekvensen blir att koldioxidutsläppen nu ökar.

Mats Gustavsson driver en bensinmack i Växjö och han har sett att det blivit färre som tankar E85.

– På vår station säljer vi ungefär 400 liter E85 och det motsvarar 10-15 tankningar om dagen, säger han.

Det kan jämföras med över 430 tankningar av bensin och diesel om dagen på Mats Gustavssons bensinstation.

Tappat 25 procent

Hittills i år har försäljningen av E85 sjunkigt med 25 procent enligt siffror från SPBI, Svenska Petroleum och Biodrivmedel Institutet.

– Konsekvenser blir att det blir en minskad övergång till biodrivmedel och att koldioxidutsläppen ökar vilket inte är bra, säger Sofie Quant, kommunikationschef SPBI.

Måste tanka för ofta

Bland bilisterna som vi träffade på bensinstationen i Växjö fanns det olika anledningar till varför de inte tankade med E85.

– Jag tycker inte att etanol är ett alternativ eftersom då måste jag stanna och tanka så ofta, säger Johan Blomster.

– När jag köpte den här bilen så var etanolbilarna inte så bra utvecklade, utan de kunde frysa på vintern, säger Thomas Jonsson.

Saab Sonett Super Sport tillverkades bara i sex exemplar. Två av klenoderna från 1956 finns på Saab-museet i Trollhättan.

I andra avnittet av Biltokig tittar vi närmare på klassiska bilar som Citroën DS, Ford Mustang och Jaguar E-type. Vi besöker Tjolöholm Classic motor där Sveriges snabbaste och kanske långsammaste fordon visar upp sig. There's no doubt that perusing the pictures of the BMW M4 Coupe Concept will be a bittersweet moment for some diehard M fanatics. Overall, the car looks great, but those M4 badges sure do look odd don't they? The M4 concept, which debuts at this week's Concours d'Elegance in Pebble Beach, is our first glimpse at the car formerly known as the two-door M3. And based on a poll we conducted last month, a majority of you are having a hard time accepting the name change. Official horsepower and 0-60 mph numbers could do wonders in reversing those feelings, but BMW isn't quite ready to release powertrain details. So for now, the M4 Coupe Concept exists for us to judge its sheetmetal.

Dubai’s police department already owns some neat sheetmetal, including some Italian exotic cars, but it seems the department is also a fan of American muscle, as it just took delivery of a 2013 Chevrolet Camaro SS for use as a patrol car
Like Dubai’s other patrol cars, the Camaro wears white paint along with green bodyside and hood striping – the latter applied in the same two-stripe pattern as any other Camaro SS model. In fact apart from some aftermarket bodywork including a new front splitter, side sills, and rear spoiler, these cars are largely stock. An LED light bar runs the width of the roof, while the stock fog lamps are replaced with red and blue LED strobe lamps.
GM’s Middle Eastern press office has few other details on the car, but it appears the Dubai Police Camaro retains the Camaro SS’ stock 426-hp, 6.2-liter V-8 and six-speed manual transmission. That should be good enough to move the 3860-pound Camaro from 0-60 mph in just under 4.7 seconds.
That said, Dubai is the land of supercars – and as fast as the Camaro may be, it might have a little trouble catching up to that sort of speeder. No worries – in addition to the Ferraris and Lamborghinis you previously saw, Dubai is also purchasing a Aston Martin One-77 and upfitting it for use as a police car (a stock One-77 is shown below). Although its 750-hp, 7.3-liter V-12 would make for one heck of a pursuit vehicle, Dubai says the car – and others of its ilk – won’t chase speeding motorists and instead serve as a “road safety” car.
What’s next, a police-spec McLaren P1 or a LaFerrari with a light bar? Actually, we’d love to see that. If it were to happen, you just know it’ll be in Dubai.

Though rally driver Ken Block may be the undisputed king of automotive viral videos, drift drivers have been getting into the game recently. Formula Drift’s Vaughn Gittin Jr. took his Ford Mustang RTR to Saudi Arabia for a bit of sideways action, and now “Mad” Mike Whiddett has taken his Mazda RX-7 with about 750 hp up the Crown Range in Queenstown, New Zealand’s highest paved road.

The road would present quite the challenge for any enthusiast on a leisurely Sunday drive, let alone on a flat-out 144 mph drift adventure. The range has 47 corners spaced out over 6.5 miles, with a summit 3530 feet high. Yet Mad Mike still throws his four-rotor RX-7 into each corner with abandon, with a helicopter giving chase and flames shooting from the back of his car.
The video shows Mad Mike’s Red Bull Mazda RX-7 tackle consecutive hairpin turns, drive flat out over a long straight, and then rein it all back in at the top of the mountain.

[Fast and Furious 7 in theaters next summer and we even have a release date - July 11th, 2014!]

We've got some breaking news out of Las Vegas about one of the most anticipated movies of not only this summer, but next summer too! Studios and celebrities have ascended upon Vegas to attend this year's CinemaCon and among them were Vin Diesel who made an appearance at Universal's presentation to not only speak about this summer's Fast and Furious 6, but also share some info on what's in store for the seventh film. We previously reported that plans were underway to shoot the follow-up as early as this summer for a planned 2014 release. Things were moving so fast and furious (pun intended) that director Justin Lin decided to step away in order to focus on getting the latest movie to theaters. Universal has since brought in Insidious director James Wan to take over directing duties and now it looks like we will in fact be seeing Fast and Furious 7 in theaters next summer and we even have a release date - July 11th, 2014! Diesel said that the reason for the quick turnaround to get a 7th film out was the fact that the film will tie in closely with the storyline of Fast and Furious 6. We previously revealed rumors of just how close the films will tie in to each other and needless to say it's extremely spoiler heavy, so you can click the link in the description for info on that. It's unclear which cast members will return, but Dwayne Johnson recently told Collider that he hadn't heard of a start date for a seventh installment and that if a summer start was to happen, he would most likely not be able to join the film as he will be busy shooting his Hercules movie. Regardless of who does return, Diesel stated that the seventh installment will in fact take place in Los Angeles and be the biggest Fast film yet.
