Greetings from latvia, my name is aksels and im starting a t5 engine swap into my 740 glt and have a bunch of questions. i feel like this is the right place for it, because u guys have t5 rwd volvos everywhere and you know how to get them done

so let me introduce you to my brick




i have done some suspension mods already, it has 5x108 to 6x139,7 wheel adapters, shortened kilen sport springs in front, jeep(ish) shortened springs in the back, boge turbo gasmatic shock absorbers all around, poly bushings for the rear axle, welded diff and some other mods. it had a 16v engine, but 155 hp simply started getting not enough and the sound a t5 engine makes is awesome so i decided to spice up my  740 with t5

i have pulled both engines out, made a flange for exhaust side engine mount , 960 sump cutted and getting welded tommorow, krabblock almost done, me7 intake being moded etc everything in progress. (will post pics soon

there are couple of questions i have
1.  Is there any driveshaft which is the correct lenght and doesnt have to be cutted and welded ? (i didnt get any driveshaft with my m90, maybe the standart m90 will work ? maybe diesel driveshaft? )
2.  i know a good option for clutch is a t5 - r clutch, but ive heard the pressure plate will fit from some bmw ? im just looking for some budget solution, like getting used but tight pressure plate and used clutch disk with replacing the pads.
3.   for the sump clearance issues, the v6 swaybar is needed, but i seem to have problem finding one, is there any other option ? rising engine higher or making spacers for original swaybar to sit lower ? has anyone done it ?
4.   what is the easiest intercooler for this swap ? saab intercooler maybe ?
5. any other things i should know for my swap maybe ?

Hello! I'm just building one of my own right now! :)Here is one solution of how you can solve the problem with the swaybar. This waas a pic I found on google but it seems to work för him what I've heard.

And about the driveshaft, you kan take it from the 4-cylinder that has the m90 gearbox, but you also need the "Plate" that you bolt the driveshaft on.

And if you want to have water temp like it is original you have to take the sensor that sits on the back of the cylinderhead at the first version of 960. the steering servo hoose do you need also. de one that goes in to de pump. good luck!!

And the intercooler you should have comes from a 940 turbo, with the intakes in the middle, and you need the "big" Radiator from the same car

so i got my 960 sump welded and resurfaced and this might be a silly question but how is 960 oil filter attached to sump ?




idk from which car this mount is, but it look like its made for this conversion (if the gearbox will fit)

you have a sump from a 960 -91 -94 they dont have a bolt that you mount the oil filter on. take one from a b230 engine
