  • Chassi
    Key Chassis & Suspension Specifications:

? CATS (Computer Active Technology Suspension): The XJR comes standard with this electronically controlled adaptive damping system. It uses road sensors to automatically switch the dampers between a compliant comfort setting and a firm sport setting within milliseconds.

? Sport Setup: Compared to the standard XJ8, the XJR chassis sits lower, utilizes stiffer springs, and features thicker anti-roll bars to handle the 370 hp supercharged V8 and reduce body roll.
  • Fälgar, däck och bromsar
? Wheels & Brakes: It left the factory riding on 18-inch "Pentastar" alloy wheels wrapped in performance tires, backed by an upgraded braking system to match its high-speed grand touring purpose.
  • Interiör / Inredning
The interior of the 1998 Jaguar XJR (X308) blends traditional British luxury with purposeful sporty details, featuring high-quality natural materials and advanced late-90s technology.

    Cabin Materials & Styling

? Seating: Upholstered in premium Connolly leather with more aggressive side bolsters than the standard XJ8 to keep you planted during cornering.
? Wood Trim: Unlike the traditional light brown burr walnut found in standard XJs, the XJR features Dark Stained Maple (or dark walnut) wood veneers for a more modern, stealthy look.
? Steering Wheel & Shifter: Features a leather-wrapped steering wheel and the classic Jaguar "J-Gate" shifter surround finished in matching dark wood.

    Key Equipment & Features

? Comfort: Power-adjustable front seats with driver-side memory, heated front seats, and automatic climate control.
? Tech Amenities: Electrochromic (auto-dimming) rearview mirror, automatic headlights, and a power-adjustable steering column that retracts when the key is removed for easy entry/exit.
? Audio System: A premium Alpine sound system featuring a trunk-mounted 6-disc CD changer.

    Factory Options

? Navigation: Early, disc-based GPS navigation screen in the center console (which replaced the classic three analog gauges).
? Cold Weather Package: Added heating elements to the rear seats and the front windshield.
? Integrated Phone: A Motorola handset integrated directly into the center armrest.
  • Bilstereo och multimedia
The original 1998 Jaguar XJR featured a premium Alpine audio system as standard, which was highly advanced for the late 1990s but relies on analog technology by today's standards.

    Factory Audio System Specifications

? Head Unit: A cassette tape player integrated into the dashboard, featuring physical buttons and a green-lit LCD screen matching the instrument cluster.
? CD Changer: A standard 6-disc Alpine CD changer located in the trunk (left-side cubby), connected to the head unit via a proprietary M-Bus cable.
? Speakers & Amplifier: A high-output Alpine amplifier (also mounted in the trunk) driving a multi-speaker setup, including a dedicated subwoofer mounted on the rear parcel shelf.
  • Exteriör / Styling
The exterior of the 1998 Jaguar XJR (X308) features the classic, low-slung "three-box" silhouette traditional to Jaguar, but with subtle, aggressive styling cues that distinguish it from the standard XJ8.

    Distinctive XJR Exterior Features

? Mesh Grille: Instead of the chrome vertical slats found on the XJ8, the XJR features a body-colored radiator surround with a stainless steel mesh insert.
? De-chromed Trim: To give it a stealthier appearance, most of the bright chrome window surrounds and side moldings are replaced with body-colored or matte black trim (often called the "sport trim").
? Wheels: It came factory-equipped with 18-inch "Pentastar" 5-spoke alloy wheels, which filling out the wheel arches much tighter than the 16-inch wheels on lesser models.
? Exhaust & Badging: The rear features dual chrome exhaust tips and a subtle "XJR" badge on the right side of the trunk lid. The signature Jaguar "Leaper" hood ornament was a dealer-installed option in some markets, while others received a flat hood badge.

    Body & Dimensions

? Construction: A steel unibody structure with an aluminum hood to save front-end weight.
? Length: 5,024 mm (197.8 inches), built exclusively on the Short Wheelbase (SWB) chassis for this model year to maintain sharper handling.
? Lighting: Quad rounded halogen headlights with glass lenses up front, and tinted taillight lenses at the rear.
  • Framtidsplaner
Keep, preserve, honor and maintain for the rest of my life.
I do a little bit at a time to keep it fresh and bring it as close to factory new as I can.

    2027:
    - Radiator replacement, hoses and overall cooling system health checks.
    - AC Condensor replacement and gas fill
    - Right headlight fitment fix, now sits a bit loose
    - Rear axle overhaul: excessive axial play in both axles, needs adressing
    - Speaker replacement in all doors, dried and cracking noises
    - Tires, going with Michelin Pilot 225/40 R18 original dimensions 255/40 ZR18
  • Övrigt
Very nice and well-maintained, rust-free, and only driven during summers.
2 owners prior to the undersigned. Free from cosmetic flaws. Not even the slightest stone chip can be found.
98,000 km (approx. 61,000 miles). New brakes all around (everything is brand new), along with many other new parts.

    As of today, I have:

    * Driven it 910 kilometers total
    * Replaced:
    - Air filter
    - Transmission fluid
    - Brake fluid
    - Fuel filter
    - Spark plugs
    - Starter motor
    - Engine oil and filter (x2)

Everything Jaguar original parts, down to the smallest detail, except for the oil being Mobil 1 fully synthetic 0w40, the best I could buy.

I love this car and I'm keeping it for the rest of my life. I will make sure every nut and bolt, every hose and component is in top shape.

It stands in a dry heated winter storage facility, dust-free, from october to may, and it's only ever driven on days without rain. I don't even drive it if the roads are the slightest wet. I don't want rust or dirt on it.
