Ja du Lucif3r, det var hjärtskärande oljud kan jag säga. Men vi ska ta en titt med endoskop. Har köpt lite ficklampor också idag, i miniformat dessutom, motorutrymmet är inte stort. Vi plockade faktiskt av flipfronten helt för att komma åt bättre. Lättare att inspektera och lägga örat mot olika delar av motorn för att avgöra vart missljudet kommer ifrån.
Men glädjande nog var ju att den gick igång. Sladdtrasslet är ett minne blott. Lyckan var stor när 123TUNE+ sken med grönt LED-ljus. Och smilbanden, trots lite kvarstående svullnad, bredde ut sig från öra till öra när motorn hoppade igång. När vi stängde av motorn så hörde jag ett droppande ljud underifrån. Hmm, bränsleläckage. Det fanns lite andra småsaker att efterspänna när vi såg efter.
Eftersom sladdtrasslet under hatthyllan på instrumentpanelen är borta kan jag nu spänna fast min ovala speedo (nej, inte badbrallorna) och sätta dit mina egentillverkade Dash cards. Men motorn har förstås högsta prioritet.
Ibland är det märkligt hur bra saker och ting passar, för att sedan plötsligt inte längre göra det. Hmm. Gasvajerskallen ville inte passa alls. Galet. Så vi fick borra upp hålet en knapp millimeter. Smack. Då passade det. Gör justering på gaspedalens läge inom kort då den inte är i högsta position.
Den ökända Spaghetti-härvan i motorrummet blev en aning mindre då en hel del sladdar gick in i kupén till ECR, banan och allt vad det nu var. 123TUNE+ hade endast tre sladdar vilket var en lättnad att se. För att vrida cylinder 1 till Top Dead Center så stoppade jag ner wok-pinnar för att se läget. Man tar vad man har. Sen var det bara att stoppa i den tech-piffade fördelaren på sin plats och vrida huset tills att LED-lampan tändes. Enkelt. Så skönt.
Den kommande tiden lär det förstås klias rejält i hårbotten och geniknölarna gnuggas för att reda ut vad problemet kan vara med missljudet. Det får räcka med problem nu. Vill ha lite flyt med motorn för en gångs skull. Tålamodet tryter och man kastas mellan hopp och förtvivlan.

Yeah, Lucif3r, it was a heartbreaking noise, I can tell you. But we'll take a look with an endoscope. I bought some pocket-sized flashlights today too, the engine compartment is not large. We actually removed the flipfront completely to get better access. Easier to inspect and put an ear against different parts of the engine to determine where the noise is coming from.
But fortunately, it was great that it started. The wire mess is a thing of the past. The joy was immense when the 123TUNE+ lit up with green LED light. And the smiles, despite a bit of lingering swelling, spread from ear to ear when the engine jumped to life. When we turned off the engine, I heard a dripping sound from underneath. Hmm, fuel leakage. There were a few other small things to tighten when we checked.
Since the wire mess under the hat shelf on the instrument panel is gone, I can now secure my oval speedo (no, not the swim trunks) and attach my homemade Dash cards. But, of course, the engine has top priority.
Sometimes it's strange how well things fit, only to suddenly not fit anymore. Hmm. The throttle cable bracket didn't fit at all. Crazy. So, we had to drill the hole about a millimeter larger. Snap. Then it fit. Will make adjustments to the gas pedal position shortly since it's not in the highest position.
The infamous spaghetti tangle in the engine compartment became a bit smaller as many wires went into the cabin to the ECR, banana, and whatever else there was. 123TUNE+ had only three wires, which was a relief to see. To turn cylinder 1 to Top Dead Center, I stuck in wok sticks to check the position. You use what you have. Then it was just a matter of putting the tech-savvy distributor in place and turning the housing until the LED light came on. Simple. So nice.
In the coming days, there will undoubtedly be some serious head-scratching and brain-racking to figure out what the problem might be with the noise. Enough with the problems now. Want a bit of smooth sailing with the engine for once. Patience is wearing thin, and one is tossed between hope and despair.

Någon som har en elmotor till salu? Det vi såg genom endoskopet var... inte bra. Nu river jag motorn på nytt! Yay!
Fotplåtarna blev bra i alla fall. Svarteloxeras inom kort.

Anyone selling an electric motor? What we saw through the endoscope was... not good. Now I'm tearing the engine apart again! Yay!
The footplates turned out well, though. Will be anodized black shortly.

Ingen rast, ingen ro! Farsan kom förbi idag. Nu är det bråttom att få ur motorn och få den iordningställd igen. Illa kvickt! Alla slangar och kopplingar plockades enkelt bort, oljor tömdes, motorfästen lossades mm, men kvar fanns kruxet med drivaxlarna. Och vi hade förstås glömt hur trångt och jävligt det är att komma åt här och där i detta minimala motorrum... Antingen kunde vi ta bort dem via naven eller inne vid växellådan. Några bärarmar och stag jävlades med oss så det blev till att köra till Biltema och skaffa avdragare, som var fel, så det blev en runda dit igen. Men så lossade spindellederna och sen ryckte vi ut naven med bromsok i ett kit.
Kort därefter lyfte vi den lilla motorn. Den väger en del trots allt. Vi avlägsnade växellådan och så bär det av till motorverkstaden imorrn. Sen får vi se om de har tid och lust. I annat fall får vi leta ny motorverkstad. Håll tummarna!

No rest, no peace! Dad came by today. Now it's urgent to get the engine out and get it sorted again. Quickly! All hoses and connections were easily removed, oils drained, engine mounts loosened, but the snag with the drive shafts remained. And, of course, we had forgotten how tight and tricky it is to access here and there in this minimal engine compartment... Either we could remove them via the hubs or inside at the gearbox. Some control arms and rods gave us a hard time, so we had to drive to Biltema and get a puller, which was wrong, so we had to go there again. But then the ball joints came loose, and we pulled out the hubs with calipers in one kit.
Shortly thereafter, we lifted the small engine. It weighs a bit after all. We removed the gearbox, and off to the engine workshop tomorrow. Then we'll see if they have time and interest. Otherwise, we'll have to find a new engine workshop. Keep your fingers crossed!"
